Tyralynn Frazier | Ph.D., MPH

Tyralynn Frazier directs research at The Compassion Lab, through the center for contemplative sciences and compassion-based ethichs at Emory University. This lab is dedicated to the following objectives:

  • Firstly, our research team is committed to bolstering the evidence-based SEE Learning program and CBCT for educators. We focus on identifying implementation strategies that enhance feasibility, impact, and sustainability at various levels, from individual schools to national education systems.
  • Secondly, we strive to deepen understanding by creating tools and metrics that facilitate the effective deployment of CBCT and SEE Learning. This includes comprehensive school-wide implementation strategies across our global research sites.
  • Thirdly, we aim to promote widespread adoption by focusing on effective manualization processes that have a significant impact.
  • Fourthly, we make significant contributions to compassion-based educational research globally. Our work furthers scientific knowledge in the realms of compassion, common humanity, interdependence, and secular ethics.

In her capacity, Tyralynn Frazier supports a network of researchers, collaborators, and partner organizations. Together, we are instrumental in fostering a global research initiatives that advocate for the cultivation of more compassionate educational environments worldwide. As a seasoned CBCT facilitator and a meditator with two decades of experience, she has engaged with thousands of students across over ten countries. Her efforts are aimed at understanding and instigating enduring compassionate transformations within entire schools, using whole-school implementation processes. Collaborating with international researchers, educational leaders, and non-profit entities, she plays a pivotal role in advancing these initiatives on a global scale. Tyralynn’s fervor is rooted in developing methodologies for comprehensive school reform, developing measurements, and overseeing implementation and evaluation to spark not just systemic academic achievement, but systemic well-being. Her research aims to seek to effect positive change within intricate educational frameworks, transcending cultural boundaries. As the director of The Compassion Lab, she nurtures collaborative efforts that enrich the science of compassion and foster thriving educational communities universally.
