Darunsikkhalai School for Innovative Learning (DSIL) – Bangkok, Thailand
Center for Systems Awareness SITE
Darunsikkhalai School for Innovative Learning (DSIL) was established in 2001 as a part of an education reform project of the Suksapattana Foundation (founded by MIT Alumni in Thailand) and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.
DSIL has laid the foundation of project-based learning and constructionism of the late MIT Professor Seymour Papert in primary and secondary education in Thailand. With capacity of 250 students from grades 1-12, DSIL has been conducting a unique constructionist student-centered project-based learning approach which incorporates students’ interests in the curriculum and provides space for self-directed learning.
In January 2019, DSIL started incorporating the Compassionate Systems Framework by enhancing our reflection process in the classroom and among communities of teachers and parents. We decided to get involved fully in July 2019. We are still new to this community and we hope to apply this emotional framework in our curriculum and our school’s culture in the near future.
