OVERVIEW
Welcome to this Contemplative Systems Awareness Retreat - an offering for all alumni of the Center Foundations I workshops and the equivalent thereof in BC, participants from the Master Class series and for all Nisga’a people.
An integral part of the Compassionate Systems Framework is the focus on tools, practices, and approaches for cultivating somatic and relational awareness. This can help us to more intentionally grow our quality of attention, presence, aspiration, grounding, and compassion. All this nourishes and cultivates self- and other care, greater well-being, and the notion of “how we show up” with a dedication to consistently contribute to more generative social fields. In a time where humans are experiencing stress, anxiety, and depression in unprecedented numbers, and where the unpredictable geopolitical situation is destabilizing dramatically, it seems exceedingly important to develop strategies to stay healthy, sane, grounded, and emotionally balanced even in the face of adversity, high-pressure work situations and effects of chaotic world everywhere around us.
With this new offering we want to explore the intricate relationship between ourselves and who we are in the world and our own integrity, motivation, and being. We will practice how we can make decisions rooted in care and greater emotional literacy, relational competences, and compassion. All so that we may become better partners for ourselves and the people around us, for the planet, and for future generations.
We will work in-depth with the science of well-being, contemplative practices in nature, the systems awareness mandala and the embodied understanding of generative social fields through various approaches such as somatic awareness, cultivating presence and compassion practices - and because we are able to offer this retreat in-person in the Nisga’a Nation, we have an extraordinary opportunity to connect directly with the energies of the Land. Through this, we will explore motivation and courage of the heart, and how we may shift dysfunctional habitual ways of being.
We are incredibly honored to be able to host this retreat in the Nisga’a Nation in collaboration with the Nisga’a school district and several members of the Nisga’a community. Teachings will be in the Nisga’a Nation and on and with the Nisga’a lands. We have secured some rooms in Nisga’a so that people from outside the Nation have an opportunity to stay locally, alternatively, it is possible to commute through and from Terrace and stay at a hotel there. The retreat is facilitated by Mette Miriam Boell with support from Nisga’a Nation Master Practitioners, knowledge keepers, and community members in collaboration with the Local BC Center for Systems Awareness,
We look forward to welcoming you to this next level of working together towards compassionate systems change.
Compassionate Greetings,
Mette, Tanya, Robert, Charity, Sylvia,
The Global Center for Systems Awareness team and the Local BC Center for Systems Awareness
