Learning Community Calls – Phase 1: Building a Solid Foundation

September: Two Calls

These calls are your first step towards personal mastery and integration of the compassionate systems tools, practices and strategies. We take time to build understanding and fluency with the framework to set a strong foundation that will support you to lead with greater confidence. Deep personal understanding of the tools will support you to use compassionate systems tools in the classroom across a range of ages and subjects.  

Meet your Partner: Each site will be assigned a specific Site Development Team Member who will be available for individual meetings according to the site’s needs. 

Learning Community Calls – Phase 2: Cycles of Inquiry

October to March: Seven Calls 

Step into an energized community of practice that spans across sites and counties, designed to foster growth, innovation, and shared learning. Our journey involves targeted capacity building to elevate the practice of both individuals and collective sites. At the heart of our collaboration are the cycles of inquiry—a robust framework where participants will actively co-create, implement, and critically reflect on lesson design and student experiences.

Learning Community Call – Phase 3: What did we learn?

April:  Two Calls

Prepare to reflect on and share the incredible stories and insights from your journey. Prepare to showcase your achievements at the Culmination Event, a gathering of minds and hearts from across counties. Each site will be invited to share their experience in any format they choose, from pictures, stories, videos etc…

Ongoing Support:  Each site will be assigned a specific Site Development Team Member who will be available for individual meetings to support the site’s needs.  

Optional Specialized Sessions: Expanding Expertise

Complementing our scheduled calls, we offer access to 90 min Deep Dive sessions that allow participants to explore themes closely aligned with the cycles of inquiry. These Deep Dives will be open to all compassionate systems alumni giving access to a wider community of practitioners for all participants. These calls are designed to deepen understanding in areas such as organizational leadership, learning design, youth leadership, global youth council, science of wellbeing, systems dynamics and contemplative practices. Participants will also be granted access to our Global Community Calls.

What makes these deep dives truly special is the direct access to key expertise from our Center Staff. This is also a unique opportunity to collaborate with Master Practitioners and county partners, who bring specialized knowledge directly relevant to your site's goals and challenges.

In-Person Visits

The Site Development Team will visit each county for at least one week in Fall 2024 and in Spring 2025.  These visits will allow the Site Development Team to visit specific participants in their school setting.  These visits will be co-created with participants to support the learning experiences in their context. 

• Ventura: September 23-27, 2024
• Humboldt: October 7-11, 2024
• Ventura: February 24-28, 2025
• Humboldt: March 3-7, 2025

Culmination

A three-hour virtual convening will be scheduled for Spring 2025. This event will bring together participants to share and celebrate their work. After this time, members of the Site Development Team will be able to support further growth and integration in classrooms, schools, and expanded learning settings. 

The Grand Finale: A Celebration of Achievement and Future Pathways

Thursday May 8, 2025 1:00 - 4:00 PST

Showcasing Learning: Participants from across sites and counties will come together virtually to share their inspiring stories, innovative projects, and the positive impact they've made in their communities. It's a moment to shine and recognize the hard work and dedication of all involved.

Fostering Connections: As we celebrate our achievements, we also lay the groundwork for future collaborations. This event is an opportunity to strengthen bonds within our community, ensuring that the support network we've built together continues to thrive.

Integrating Compassionate Systems: We'll explore how the practices and insights gained through our program can be woven into the fabric of educational settings. The goal is to keep the momentum going, ensuring that compassionate systems become a staple in our approach to education.

Looking Forward: Beyond celebration, this event sets the stage for ongoing support and engagement. We'll discuss ways to sustain and expand our work, keeping the spirit of innovation and community alive in our schools and beyond.

This event is our moment to reflect on our journey, celebrating our collective achievements, and looking ahead to the bright future of compassionate systems in education. We know that the work of the core teams will be the heartbeat of this program, and we can't wait to honor that together at our culmination event.
