Shauna Ross

Assistant Superintendent
Surrey School district
British Columbia Hub | Canada | NORTH AMERICA

My name is Shauna Ross and I am currently part of an amazing Assistant Superintendent and senior leadership team working within the Surrey School district of British Columbia.  Our schools are located on the shared and unceded territories of the Katzie, Semiahmoo, Kwantlen and other Coast Salish peoples.  Currently, we support over 80,000 students and 13,000 staff to think creatively and critically, communicate skillfully and demonstrate care for self and others.  I feel so honored, each and every day, to have spent almost 30 years in education.

As part of my role as Assistant Superintendent in Surrey, I have the privilege of supporting a zone of schools which include fifteen K-7 elementary schools, three 8-12 secondary schools and an alternate learning centre site.  I also work closely with our Student Support and Inclusion department, nurturing over 10,000 designated learners (in all of our 130+ schools) to learn, contribute, grow, play and participate in all aspects of a diverse, equitable, inclusive and healthy school life.

Personally, I am the proud mother of two adult sons who bring me immense joy every single day.  Although they no longer live at home, I am so happy that they live close enough to visit.  To find balance and connect with nature, I enjoy cycling, kayaking, walking the sea wall and travelling.

I’m looking forward to meeting new people and engaging in collaborative conversations about meaningful system change and the impact we can continue to have on the future of student learning.  Hello and Ey Swayel to the 2024-2025 cohort!
