Sarah Osborne

Assistant Primary Principal
International School of Zug and Luzern
Switzerland Hub | EUROPE

Sarah is an early childhood educator who has worked for most of her career in International Schools. She has an MA in School Leadership and Management and is currently the Assistant Principal for Early Years to Grade 1 at the International School of Zug and Luzern (ISZL).

Sarah was first introduced to compassionate systems when ISZL was one of a number of schools across the world to develop the prototype in conjunction with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the International Baccalaureate Organization. In her roles as both classroom teacher and Primary Years Programme Coordinator, she has explored how compassionate systems can be used within unit design to help students understand complex, interconnected issues. On a personal level, many of the practices and tools have become habits of mind which serve her in both her work and personal life.

On a day-to-day basis, Sarah feels most grounded when connecting with young learners and being surrounded by nature. Her hopes are that through the Master Practitioner course and making connections with others she can extend the work of compassionate systems in Switzerland as well as better understand the potential of compassionate systems for her school community to realise its mission to make the world a better, kinder place.
