Rhonda Togyi
District Principal Inclusive Education
School District 91: Nechako Lakes
Canada: British Columbia Hub | North America
I grew up and currently reside in a small rural community in the very center of British Columbia, Canada which is the traditional territory of the Saik’us First Nation. I consider myself and my family uninvited settlers to these territories. Currently, I am the District Principal for Inclusive Education at Nechako Lakes School District 91. Nechako Lakes School District spans across the unceded, ancestral territories of fourteen First Nations representing the Dakelh, Nedut’en and Wet’suwet’en peoples. In this role, I support learners, school teams, and district Itinerant staff. My dedication to helping students with diverse abilities achieve their personal goals both academically and in life directly, or from a supportive role, has been very rewarding. With a career supporting learners with unique needs spanning back to 1997, I have worked at both elementary and secondary levels. I also served as a principal in two rural elementary schools before assuming my current position. Throughout my journey, I have consistently emphasized compassion as a guiding principle, especially during challenging times personally or professionally. Beyond work, I cherish my 20+ year marriage, my two children, and sharing my life with furry companions. Gardening, crafting, and quality time with family and friends are among my favorite activities which allow me to remain grounded and committed to lifelong learning.
