Michelle R. Perrenoud Ed.D. is recognized as an educational leader in Los Angeles County and throughout the state of California. She is particularly renowned for her work in the fields of expanded learning, youth development, and education over the past three decades.

An Iowa native and University of Iowa alumnus, she recently earned her doctorate at University of California, Los Angeles in Educational Leadership.  Her scholarly research focused on understanding interests of middle school youth in expanded learning programs and youth and practitioner perceptions of the conditions that foster young people’s desires to attend and participate, resulting in sustained participation.  Dr. Perrenoud is a published author, serves as a guest lecturer, board member, conference presenter, and is a member of the California Department of Education’s System of Support for Expanded Learning and statewide design committees including Research, Policy, Quality and Workforce. She received an Innovator Award from the California Afterschool Network and is regarded as a national expert and trusted advisor for creating new and alternative ideas addressing learning needs of older youth during out-of-school time and building the leadership capacity of practitioners to deliver quality expanded learning experiences.

As a former YMCA executive, Dr. Perrenoud began her extensive experience with research and design for older youth programs serving middle and high school students.  Currently a Program Manager at the Los Angeles County Office of Education, she provides technical assistance and capacity building in the areas of leadership, systems thinking, professional development, program design, continuous quality improvement, and grant management/compliance.  Dr. Perrenoud specializes in supporting district administrators and community leaders launching new or revitalizing existing K-12 state and federally funded programs providing academic enrichment opportunities for students attending high poverty and low-performing schools.

Dr. Perrenoud is recognized for her ability as a leader to empower others to cultivate their best self and lead from their current position.  A certified professional coach working in the area of organizational development, Dr. Perrenoud provides coaching and consultation to leaders to reach specific goals, objectives, and successes.  Much of her current work with organizations encourages individual initiative and co-leadership from a systems perspective in order to achieve clearly defined results.
