Ms. Meyer has been part of California’s System of Support for Expanded Learning (SSEL) since 2016, first as Sonoma County SSEL Lead, then as the Region 1 STEAM Hub lead, and now as a Senior Specialist with ASAPconnect. She brings her experience in adult education, professional learning, curriculum planning, invention education, community schools, non-profit governance, systems design and project management to her work in supporting a statewide transformation of California’s expanded learning programs and schools.

Melea is the proud mom of two amazing humans (since 2008) and one of three Co-founders of Shanél Valley Academy (since 2021): a TK-6th grade charter school in rural Northern California.

In the third year of working toward her Doctor of Education in Organizational Innovation, Melea’s research is focused on how school and community leaders can create optimal conditions for post-traumatic growth in volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous times. She is investigating Generative Leadership – or leadership that promotes growth and transformation. Melea seeks to embody this ideal, and she is driven to inspire youth and the adults who care for them to design safe and supportive spaces that create conditions for community resilience, cultural humility and healing.
