Hi, I am Liza, the Vice Principal of an esteemed Christian secondary school for female students in Hong Kong, where I have been serving for 29 years. Our school’s mission is to provide exceptional education rooted in Christian values, focusing on the holistic development of each student. We emphasize moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic, and spiritual growth, aiming to nurture well-rounded individuals who strive for academic excellence, realize their potential, become responsible citizens and compassionate leaders, and serve their community.
In 2018, I discovered the Compassionate Systems framework during a workshop at the J-WEL Week at MIT. This discovery led me to participate in further workshops in 2022 (virtual) and 2024 (in person in Hong Kong), where I found that the framework aligns seamlessly with my educational vision and goals for building a vibrant and supportive student-caring community.
As a mother of two teenagers, I have personally experienced how Compassionate Systems help me cultivate a harmonious and understanding family. This practical application in my home life reinforces my belief in the framework’s value and its potential impact on our school community.
Through the Certification Program, I aspire to integrate Compassionate Systems into our school, helping to cultivate students who are caring and compassionate global citizens dedicated to creating a better world. We also plan to extend these values to teachers, parents, and students, fostering a broader community of empathy and understanding who are aware of their own wellbeing.
I eagerly anticipate the inspirational journey ahead. This year promises numerous opportunities to create generative spaces and engage in meaningful conversations as I explore the transformative power of Compassionate Systems alongside my fellow program members.
