Kavita Sharma (she/her) is the Principal of Elgin Park Secondary in the Surrey School District in British Columbia, Canada. Known for her innovative, collaborative, human-centred approach to leadership, she is deeply committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and centres her work on a sense of belonging for all in her school community. Her moral compass, vision, and commitment to better the world through education drives her to push for positive change by asking a lot of questions and just being curious.

Kavita’s proactive and interactive nature means she’s often found in classrooms or connecting with students in collaborative spaces rather than in her office (although that space is also a very student friendly space with lots of trinkets she’s collected over the years). Kavita’s vision is to inspire compassionate, curious, and confident learners who believe in their ability to make a difference. She feels privileged to serve as an educator and is driven by a genuine love for her work and her school community. She believes in celebrating the little and big things because joy is an important thing.

Outside of work, Kavita loves the life that she and her husband have created together with their two children. Her family is the centre of her universe and she is blessed to be the centre of theirs.
