My name is Isamu Thung, a member of the Youth Leadership Team and one of the pioneering high school participants in the Master Practitioners Program. Throughout my educational journey, I have attended ten different schools, from Japanese public institutions to American charter schools, fueling my fascination with diverse educational systems and the intricacies of learning.
Introduced to Compassionate Systems tools, I began viewing my surroundings through a systems lens, revealing the beauty, interconnectedness, and dynamic nature of our world. This perspective transformed my understanding, replacing a stagnant view with one of vibrant, mutually dependent elements. This revelation continues to drive my endless curiosity about the systems around me.
I’m also involved with the Youth Council and I collaborate on research projects with a global cohort of passionate young individuals committed to compassionate systems work. Together, we have launched initiatives and shared our findings with educators worldwide, fostering meaningful dialogues and exchanging ideas between youth and adults.
Beyond academics, I am passionate about the performing arts, embracing song, dance, and music as creative outlets. Over three years in a performing arts team, I developed leadership skills, balancing guiding the team and empowering its members. I thrive on strengthening connections among people striving toward a collective vision.
In my free time, I immerse myself in reading, philosophical inquiry, and interdisciplinary studies, constantly seeking creative solutions to complex problems. As artificial intelligence advances, I am particularly intrigued by its impact on education and its potential to redefine meaningful learning. I believe it is crucial to reconsider the human role and its significance in this evolving landscape.
