Aaron Storey

Special Education Director
Folsom Cordova Unified School District
California Hub | USA

Aaron Storey is a Special Education Director for a medium-sized school district in the cities of Rancho Cordova and Folsom. He joined the FCUSD administrative team during COVID in July 2020. Aaron was introduced to Compassionate Systems work in spring 2021 and began promoting CS practices in special education and district leadership. Aaron has a natural affinity for compassionate systems due to his work as a school psychologist, counseling and supporting students of all ages.

Before FCUSD, Aaron worked as an administrator and school psychologist in San Juan Unified School District in Sacramento and Bishop Union High School District in the Eastern Sierra region of California. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in psychology and his Master of Arts in Applied Psychology at California State University, Chico

Aaron has been active in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) throughout his career. The field of special education is one of the most litigated services today, and ADR has offered a system of tools to prevent and resolve conflict for schools and families, reducing dependence on the legal system. Compassionate Systems synthesizes Aaron’s interest in conflict resolution and psychology as a means of reshaping public education.

Personally, Aaron is the husband of a gifted special education teacher and father of two old-soul teens. An outdoor nut, his best adventures are with family, somewhere in the mountains, on and in snow, dirt, or water. He comes from a family of educators and therapists, and began meditating on the high school cross country team, taught and coached by his own father in the ‘80s.

His personal goal is to gather many strands of interest through CS, and promote a quiet revolution in public education based on a deeper compassionate understanding of educators, students, and families.
