The overall aim of Foundations for Systems Leadership is to advance systems leadership in preK-12 education – leaders who foster collaboration for systemic change across organizational and hierarchical structures. Such leadership is a key dimension to support the profound changes needed for schools and education systems to become truly relevant for today’s students and for society at large. Transforming systems is, ultimately, about transforming relationships among the people and institutions that shape how those systems function. This hands-on program offers a practice-based approach to building a foundation in your own understanding and capacity with learning tools that have been in development for several decades.

Learning Objectives

• Understand how underlying systemic structures shape behavior and how to recognize and work together to shift those structures;
• Clarify your personal vision and expand your capacity to make strategic choices shaped by that vision;
• Cultivate care, emotional literacy, and develop routines that support growth of well-being skills;
• Help yourself and others explore underlying beliefs and assumptions and their impact;
• Better enable conversations that promote learning and collaboration; and
• Practice with a variety of learning tools and processes that you can take back to develop shared practices within your organization.

The workshop will be experiential and personally demanding, since so much of the core work concerns our own personal development. Please plan on attending the entire time. If, for some reason, that is not, possible, please let us know in advance.
